There is always something to celebrate in the Dachshund World and October 16th was no exception as 27 members and friends of the Dachshund Club of Queensland gathered at the Blue Fin Club at Inala for a semi formal lunch to celebrate the Club’s 50th anniversary.
Organised by Vice Presidents Gyll Hoyle and Dennis Moran, with assistance from former President Dawn Wilson, the function was deliberatly held on October 16th as it was on that date in 1964 that the first Meeting was held to form the Club.
Among the attendees were Patricia Ahchee, the wife of Harold who opened the very first meeting and her daughter Cheryl.
Patricia is picture second from the right (front row) in the photo while Cheryl is fourth from the right in the middle row.
Other “old time” notables in the photo are Jenny Leitch (fifth from the right in the middle row) who was Club Secretary for a number of years, Eileen Colbert (3rd from right on front row) whose standard smooth won Best in Show at the very first Champion Show the Club conducted.
Of note also are three current Life Members who have given great service to the Club since 1970, Gyll Hoyle, Rene Stevens and Val Lingard (2nd, 3rd and 4th from the left in the front row).
